Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to address an inter-relation of plantings and building categories in tropical cities. It is a review of articles on concept of green roof and planting and building in the context of cities. Planting schemes and species selection are factors should be measured that offer remarkable benefits to reduce heat gain in building and surface temperatures. The plant selection should base on the tailored to the green roof in the tropics. Findings of this research are the integration of planting schemes, species and selection is prospective value adding to an existing or new building and generally requires minimum maintenance.
