Abstract

The rapid development process especially in urban area are influence a lot of physical structure, spatial and mentality of urban villagers. Current modernization in urban area also bring an effect, either in social or economics aspect to the urban village settlement that still preserve an physical characteristics as a village. This phenomenon has become common things to most cities when it’s faced the rapid growth scenario, either in economics, social or physical aspect. Based on problems faced, Kampung Kepayang (as a traditional urban village development. The findings show Kampung Kepayang was not achieved comfortable life because it not covered with shortage cause by well-balanced development. Because of development programmed should plan be development tp recover the image of traditional urban village. Bases on the problems faced of Kampung Kepayang, a few planning approach has suggested such as development the road systems, create the interesting recreation area, combine the land/land agglomeration), give an information to land owner about development aspect and long term proposed based on that policy and strategies of government identified. This research are very useful to planners, local authority, planning consultants, land developers, villagers and anybody which involved in planning or development of urban area especially in urban traditional villages. Considered to the problems identified, the best characteristic of traditional urban village settlement will be created or development.
